How to open a plastic clamp ?

How to open a plastic clamp ?

Most plastic clamps are single-use and therefore designed to be non-openable. When the plastic link is inserted into the head, it is immediately blocked by an automatic locking system that prevents it from detaching. It is then possible to tighten it further but impossible to remove it manually! To remove the plastic clamp, it must be cut with a pair of scissors or pliers.

How to cut the plastic clip ?

Use common scissors to remove standard plastic clamps and a suitable clamp for thicker clamps. To avoid damaging the products held by the rilsan link, cut it parallel to them.

If you need to cut a fastener that groups several cables, slightly extend it over cables and place the scissors in parallel. Cut with a sharp blow. Make sure not to take a small piece of cable before cutting. Remember, changing a cable will cost you more than changing a cable tie.

Are there reusable cable ties?

If you are sure you will have to loosen the link at some point, use a reusable plastic clamp directly. You won't need to cut it to access the cables!

The most classic model works with a small tongue placed at head level. Simply press it to release the link from the head and pass it back through it again to relock it. There are also notched models where the link folds and locks into a smaller diameter notch.

Even if at the time of purchase, the reusable clamp costs more than the single-use clamp, it will be profitable from the second handling. Also, choosing a reusable link is an act in favour of the environment.
